Science

This is my "Intro to 3D" Final I just finished making. It is derived from this illustration: Science (For Lexi) I made a few months ago.

Our hero is attempting to formulate the perfect carrot to snack on, but he just can't seem to get it right...

I'm overall aware of that the timing is pretty fast, and some other small technical issues, but if you have any input let me know!

Intro to 3D

This is my first shtick at 3D Studio Max (and generally 3D at all.) I am enjoying learning how to work in this new way, though I'd prefer to stick to 2D in future endeavors. Nonetheless, here is my slightly embarrassing first 3D project for all of the internet to see:

New Set

I updated my jewelry making a lot this weekend. I now make pins! I also bought clay which I mold into bone shapes and incorporate into my necklaces. Here are two new items, a racecar pin and an antler/pikachu/alligator necklace:

Toy Necklaces

Recently in these past few weeks I was inspired to make jewelry out of found toys and little objects. Here is the first batch of the idea, these were made from black wire and toys I've had in my house and bought in thrift stores. I'm looking to expand their appearances (make them more presentable and less crafty) and keep using this idea with other materials in the future. Please excuse the blurry photos.

Science (For Lexi)

My friend Lexi is studying neuroscience at Bard college, and this semester she has been incredibly overloaded with science classes and work. She tells me about how she is so immersed in this knowledge and loves it. So I was thinking about her and tried to picture her science world, sort of of a cheer of encouragement to keep going. Yay, Lexi!

Pavement

I saw my favorite band last night at the Williamsburg Waterfront. As I stood there alone in between the end of Jenny and Johnny and before the band of the night came on, I heard an older fan say behind me to one of her friends, "everyone under thirty should stand in the back." Even though I wasn't actually "around" for Pavement in its day, I feel like the songs are very easy to connect back to my life when they were still active. I hold a lot of nostalgia to their music for times before I even knew they existed, and in dreaming of the future. I laughed off this comment and got as close as I possibly could. I don't feel like giving an all-out review, but basically the show was amazing and I didn't even think about how this is a reunion tour. It was like they never left.
I also like the fact that they have no plans of making a new album or anything because it gives their music this permanence; they will always be a part of a certain moment in time, but their music will live on forever. And that sounds overly epic, but it's true.

SPX 2010

I went yesterday and it was amazing! I spoke to so many comic artists and got to look at a lot of great work. It is actually what inspired me to make this blog and begin to publicize my own work. I've always been pretty shy about showing my art, but it's about time to do so. Thank you everyone who was there yesterday for the motivation!

Collage

I've been doing collage forever. Here are two recent ones from my sketchbook:

Freshman Year Doodles

A lot of my doodles from freshman year were about rock n' rollers hanging around and looking tough. Not that much has changed.

HIGHSKOOOOOOL

I'll probably post old work every now and then because I like holding onto it. My highskool days were pretty fun, and gave me a lot of material to work from. It's nice to look back at it every now and then.
Here's a whole dump of 'em:

MY FIRST CARTOON

It's kind of embarrassing being the internet nerd I am that I haven't thought to make a blogspot for my art yet.
So, well, this is it.

Lulu's Accidental Adventure (July 2010)
My first cartoon! I'm still so excited about this. I like Lulu and it was great working with her and Clairis the cat (though he could be a little disobedient at times.) More adventures with them soon to come!
