How to Build a Forest

Over the summer I was part of a performance/installation piece called "How to Build a Forest" created by Katie Pearl, Lisa D'Amour and Shawn Hall. The performance ran for two weekends in The Kitchen theater in Chelsea. Each day we brought and forest to life and then deconstructed it. People were allowed to step into the forest on stage or they could watch it being created in the audience seats. I was part of a group called Flash Mob were I helped builders and also interacted with the audience by introducing them into the forest or reading lines in the audience rows. It was a wonderful experience and I have not felt the same since. The forest was beautiful and I was incredibly inspired by the hard and meticulous work Shawn Lisa and Katie put out to make it happen. Here is a drawing I just finished inspired by the forest. I would also like to thank everyone I worked with in the production for letting me be a part of the magical experience!

(I plan to rescan my drawings in the future with a better scanner, as this one kind of blurs out half of the picture.)

Paintings (2008-9)

I'm currently using my old laptop and found some older paintings I did that I really enjoyed making. If I were to go back to painting anytime soon, I would probably pick up back where I left off with Godzilla.

Cityscapes

My friend Celina and I have been working to come up with an installation in the near future based on city life. By the city, we do not just mean New York, this is a project in reference to growing up in an urban environment and community, sustainability, independence, and ups and downs. We have been drawing out some cityscapes and people we come across on our streets and neighborhoods, but still have a lot of ties to draw together. We are planning a lot of animations and videos in the future as well. Here's one of the drawings I made in reference to our project:

Daily Doodles

In order to keep up my work ethic now that school is out, I'm going to draw something at least once a day. It can range from large-scale to a simple character floating in space. Here is Day 3:

Dreamin' (Screenshots/Soundtrack)

This semester I worked on a videogame using the Flixel library. I made my own sprites and soundtrack, built the levels and wrote out the code to put it all together. This was not easy at first, but once I got the hang of it I'm very pleased with the result. The full game will be online soon, but for now here are bits and pieces.

The Encounter

Starting a new sketchbook, bigger than last, excited/hopefully will have good stuff in it soon.
